Words on Cards

Here are some of my favourite ‘words on cards’. They were made by collaging images and found text (from vintage National Geographic magazines) onto old playing cards.

The magic in these cards, for me, was the serendipity of actually finding text that matched well with the photo I chose.

Nothing was ever planned ahead of time. And everything relied heavily on whatever I stumbled across in that exact moment; I would first glue down an image I liked, then flip through a magazine or two until I found a word or phrase I thought matched perfectly with the image. It was such a fun series.

I am currently working on publishing a tiny chapbook of all my favourites.
